So Your Thinking About Getting The Motorola RAZR V3?

 by: Jason Miller

Just recently launched by Motorola is the new RAZR V3 black model. If your into looks and want to show off this is the phone for you, yet suprisingly for its pricetag and its looks - it lacks brains. If you are like most people and use your phone for making phone calls and text messages and basic scheduling then this is the phone for you. However if your looking for a system capable of pleasing the most detail and task oriented person, this phone definitely falls short.

Functions

Motorola has done a wonderful job, like most other cell phone manufacturers, at providing users with the same interface. Motorola seems to only add minor improvments and adjustments to thier design, but for the most part nothing signifigant has changed. As such previous Motorola phone users will find it easy to navigate through the RAZR's LCD screen menu and at the same time there for new users there is hardly any learning curve.

From the home screen, the menu key and the D-Pad select key open the main menu, the only time when the two share a function. The softkeys, D-Pad direction keys and the side key can all be customized as shortcuts. Navigation is very consistent. the left softkey is always back or delete, the right softkey and D-Pad select are always select or action. The menu key only opens an options menu when its logo, which is a menu icon, is displayed.

When accessing the menus there is only a small pause when opening applications. The only time there is an exceptional pause time is when accessing the downloads section. When launching the downloads menu, a huge Java logo takes over the screen for about 4-5 seconds the first time it is launched after turning on the phone. However as long as the phone has memory to keep the engine running, that wait time is reduced to a split second.

When the clamshell phone is closed no applications will run on the phone other than the camera. If you are in the middle of an application when flipping the phone it will cancel your appication.

Extras

There is no camera button on this phone, you need to assign a hotkey to the camera to use. Either way it takes 2 seconds to launch the camera when you decide to do so.

The lends of the camera is placed very close to the hinge so if you hold your phone naturally like most other users you will most likely be covering the lends with your fingers. You will mostly likely end up needing to hold the phone by the base to keep it steady which also allows for you to easily press the D-Pad to take the picture. You can adjust the zoon and brightness from the viewfinder by using the D-Pad. Out of all the different brightness presets none of them seem to work at all but the default preset does a fine job at adjusting to lighting differences.

Pictures take anywhere from 2 to 5 seconds to save, and that time has nothing to do with picture resolution, or how much free memory the phone has - it is completely unpredictable. If you do not expressly state that you want to store a picture then your picture will get deleted - this by far is one of the biggest software blunders on any name-brand phone.

After taking a picture, the two soft buttons read discard and store. If you hit any button other than store, for example end to quickly return to the home screen, your photo will be deleted. Worse, after you've hit store, and the phone takes a few seconds to save the photo, you are presented with a second menu asking what to do with the stored photo. Again, if you do anything other than select one of the choices, your photo will be deleted. This adds up to over 5 seconds wasted between every photo, and a high likelyhood that you will lose a number of photos until you adjust to this puzzling system.

In Conclusion

The RAZR is a high quality phone that everyone should be able use. Not including the unusability of the screen outdoor; this phone is an excellent phone. Signal strength is great, sound quality and talk time are good, and the camera is exteremly useful.

But despite all the physical features that make the phone wonderful, there are just as many negative aspects when we consider the phones software. When taking a look at this phone you can tell the amount of effort put into the physical design was not matched in the implementation of the software. It is not user friendly. Motorola has been using the same software for all thier phones for some time now and its time to upgrade the dinosaur operating system, which will indeed happen with the new E895 model.

So for those who just use thier phones for simple taks this phone is for you. But for people that are heavy phone users this phone will most likely turn out to be very frustrating as there are many quirks that need to be worked out.

What is and Why use 0800 numbers?

It is quite impossible you haven?t noticed that more businesses each day are offering an 0800 number for people to contact them. This is mainly because during a sale there is a normal need of communication and in 90% of cases this is done by phone. Also you have to consider that all people think of money and prospect of asking for information without paying a dime is a very big plus to considering asking for information about what you are offering.

0800 numbers are known as free phone numbers. The concept behind them is very simple: people call you and don?t pay. This means the bills for each call will be paid by you or your business. Now you will ask why pay if the other one is calling. The answer is very simple: because you can gain a lot more if he is persuaded to buy your product or service. Thus being said it is easy to see that the customer will feel...

Four Common Sense Tips for the Telephone Interview

Four Common Sense Tips for the Telephone Interview

 by: Heather Eagar

Here?s a phone interview tip worth considering:
smile.
A smile is a magic thing, and in addition to being seen in person it can be felt from a distance.
When doing a phone interview, don?t think that because the person on the other end of the phone can?t see you that smiling and other positive body gestures are not important.
The best interview tip that anyone was ever given was to smile and make positive gestures.
In fact, many people talk with their hands.
If you do, consider a telephone head set to free your hands up.

Another tip that will be worth its weight in gold is to have a good quality telephone.
It may seem silly to even mention it, but the better quality phone you use, the better your voice will sound.
Years ago everyone rented his or her telephones from the local utility phone company. ...

Motorola Razr for CDMA Users

Motorola is marketing different phones for men and women. Moto?s newest line of pink and blue Razr offspring seems to assume that there are men who will prefer blue and women who will want the pink one. They?re probably right!

The classic Silver Motorola Razr captured the lion?s share of new cell phone buying over the past year or so, causing Motorola to encroach on Nokia?s enviable leading position.

Motorola is planning to cash in on its huge success with the razor thin look and feel of the original Razr v3. The NPD Group, a leading cellular market researcher, found that Motorola cell phone sales accounted for 30% of the 31.6 million cell phones sold in the third quarter of 2005. The Motorola V3i with iTunes software and the Pink and Blue cell phones promise to give Motorola an ever-increasing share of the...

Making The Most of Long distance Phone Services

Making The Most of Long distance Phone Services

Long Distance Providers

Long distance phone service is offered by many companies. You should have a basic understanding of long distance calls and then choose the company that best suites your needs.

Once you switch long distance providers, it will take several days to activate your service.
Your service will only be activated on the one particular line and not on any of your cell phones.
Once the service is activated, you can make direct long distance calls from only that phone line.

If you need instant access consider using a prepaid calling card.
Calling cards work from any touch tone phone and require that you dial an access number and authorization code (PIN) to use their service.

The switched long distance service uses different technology for establishing a connection to the destination number. This is the most reliable service...

Technology and Cell Phone Dating

Technology and Cell Phone Dating

 by: Jay Jackson

Just when I thought technology had finally outdone itself with online dating, it goes one better with cell phone dating.
Does it get any easier than this?

Cell phones are not just for calling anymore.
They went from talking and voice mail, to text messaging, to taking pictures, to tracking our location via GPS (not always necessarily in that order), and now to dating.

Cell phone dating is so popular in some countries, like Japan, that it's overtaken online dating.
Now the phenomenon has spread to the USA to the tune of six million mobile-daters, and more coming onboard everyday.
How many might be waiting to "hear" from you?

A web search will turn up mobile dating services like Webdate Mobile, Dodgeball, Zogo, Match Mobil, and SMS Flirt.
You still have to go online to register, post profiles and/or pictures, etc., but then it's all cell phone.

Data On The Road With Your Cell Phone

Finally you're spending the weekend at your friend's cabin up at the lake. You managed to sneak your laptop up there because you know you'll need to check your e-mail at least once or twice while you're out of town.

If there happens to be Ethernet or Wifi available you'll be in luck - just plug in and you'll be ready to go! But what if you are in a secluded area? How should you get online?

Sometimes the best solution is to either have a cell phone or cell phone/PDA that acts as a modem, my favorites are the T-Mobile Sidekick, Treo 650, and the new Verizon Treo700W.If you have a way to dial in to your ISP this can be a solution.

AOL has local numbers around the US for example. The speed will be slow and you may need to pay roaming charges if you happen to be roaming on a different network, but you will be online!

Keep in mind that some but not all phones can be used as...
